The official academic requirement is: • 2:1 degree in Computer Science, Data Science or another strongly numerate discipline. • Relevant examples given by Exeter include Mathematics, Statistics and Physics. • Your degree should have a strong focus on computation. • You must have evidence of programming and mathematics modules and/or quantitative research experience on your transcript. • Exeter may consider non-standard qualifications where there is evidence of exceptional performance in relevant modules, significant relevant work experience or relevant professional qualifications. • For international students, the qualification must be equivalent to Exeter's required UK 2:1 standard. • Exeter specifically states that students who do not meet the requirements for this advanced programme can consider its MSc Data Science instead. This is an important distinction: MSc Advanced Data Science is not a conversion Master's for someone with no computing background. Exeter positions its standard MSc Data Science as the conversion programme, while Advanced Data Science is intended for applicants who already have substantial computational/mathematical preparation.
