The MSc Artificial Intelligence is a conversion Master's degree. This means it is specifically designed to allow graduates from different academic backgrounds to move into AI, rather than requiring an undergraduate degree specifically in Computer Science. The University states that students from areas such as humanities, business, science and engineering can enter the programme. The programme combines the theory, technology and practical application of Artificial Intelligence. Students study fundamental AI concepts and then apply AI tools and techniques to real-world problems. Areas mentioned by the University include intelligent agents, deep machine learning, data mining, AI technologies and data science. Students also receive support in areas such as mathematics and programming. The course specification states that students can access a free two-week induction programme in mathematics and programming before starting, with additional support available throughout the course. The programme also has an industry focus. Students can work with real-world case studies and may have opportunities to apply for industry internships; however, internships are competitive and not guaranteed.

The official course specification states: • A lower second-class honours degree (2:2) in any discipline. • GCSE Grade 4 in Mathematics (formerly Grade C) or equivalent. • Applicants without the standard academic background may alternatively be considered based on relevant industrial experience. • For applicants with a non-standard academic background but relevant industry experience, the University may use an interview to assess suitability. • International qualifications must be considered equivalent to the University's entry requirements. This is therefore a particularly accessible option for someone who has a non-computing undergraduate degree but wants to transition into AI.
Scholarship: Up to £2,000, based on academic performance: £1,000 for a standard academic profile £1,500 for students with a 2:1 or 3.5 CGPA £2,000 for students with a First Class degree or 3.7 CGPA
