The MSc Data Science is a conversion Master's degree, meaning you do not need to have a Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering degree to apply. The University specifically states that the course is open to graduates from any academic discipline. The programme develops practical skills in Python, R, SQL and SAS, with students applying these technologies to real-world data problems. It covers data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, databases, data visualisation and network analysis. A distinctive feature is the University's embedded SAS training, which is designed to lead towards SAS Tier 3 specialisation. Students can also work on live industry-related projects and may have opportunities for placements or micro-internships through the University's industry connections. The course uses practical assessment rather than traditional examinations. Students are assessed through data-analysis tasks, projects, reports, presentations, portfolios and case studies. The programme is also part of Wolverhampton's BCS-accredited computing provision.

One of the major advantages of this programme is that it is a conversion Master's. The University states that you normally need: • A lower second-class honours degree (2:2) or above. • Your degree can be in any subject — you do not necessarily need a Computer Science or Mathematics degree. • You should normally have GCSE Mathematics at Grade 4 or equivalent. • If you do not have the required GCSE Mathematics qualification, the University provides a GCSE Maths Equivalence course as a route to meeting this requirement. • Applicants with strong relevant industry experience may also be considered through an interview route. This makes the course particularly suitable for graduates from business, finance, economics, engineering, science, humanities or other non-computing backgrounds who want to move into data-related careers.
Scholarship: Up to £2,000, based on academic performance: £1,000 for a standard academic profile £1,500 for students with a 2:1 or 3.5 CGPA £2,000 for students with a First Class degree or 3.7 CGPA
