Course overview

The BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science combines academic study, simulation-based learning and extensive clinical placements to prepare students for professional paramedic practice. Students study anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, patient assessment, medical and trauma emergencies, resuscitation, advanced life support, mental health, paediatric and maternity care, clinical decision-making and evidence-based practice. Placements are undertaken across urgent and emergency care settings, including ambulance services, hospitals and other healthcare environments. BNU reports over 1,000 hours of clinical practice, with partnerships including South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and London Ambulance Service NHS Trust. On successful completion, students are eligible to apply for HCPC registration as a Paramedic.

General entry requirements

UCAS Tariff: 112–136 points Foundation Year: 32–56 points Qualifications such as A Levels, T Levels, BTEC or Access to HE can contribute towards the tariff. Access to HE qualification should be in a science-based subject. Relevant subjects such as Biology, Health & Social Care, Chemistry, Psychology, Physics, PE or Sociology are preferred but not essential. 5 GCSEs, including English, Maths and Science, at Grade C/4 or above or equivalent. Applicants must be physically fit enough for frontline clinical placements, including lifting/carrying equipment, moving patients, climbing stairs and working different shifts. Shortlisted applicants must attend a compulsory interview and selection event.

Undergraduate (UG): Up to £5,000 total: £1,500 – 1st year £1,500 – 2nd year £2,000 – 3rd year Plus £500 Early Bird Discount (E.B.D.) on 1st-year tuition fee only, if the student pays the full tuition fee before the specified deadline.
