This MSc focuses on the biological basis of human diseases, how diseases develop, how they are diagnosed and treated, and advanced biomedical research techniques. You'll study areas such as: • Human diseases • Cancer • Cardiovascular disease • Diabetes • Molecular biology • Genetics • Microbiology • Haematology • Cell culture • Antibody technology • Biomedical research • Laboratory techniques The course also has strong links with BioCity Nottingham, a major healthcare and bioscience centre. It is IBMS-accredited, which means the programme meets professional standards set by the Institute of Biomedical Science. However, the MSc itself does not automatically make someone eligible for HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist; the undergraduate degree and other requirements matter as well.

Only the tests listed here are shown as accepted for this course.
NTU's current Pakistan requirements say a 4-year Bachelor's degree with CGPA 2.5 can be considered for postgraduate courses requiring a UK 2:2 equivalent. For NUST, Quaid-i-Azam University and LUMS, the threshold listed is CGPA 2.3 for a 2:2-equivalent course. University of Punjab is listed at 50% overall for a 2:2-equivalent course. But there is an important point for this course: your Bachelor's should be in a relevant biomedical/science subject, not simply any Bachelor's degree.
Your degree should normally be in a relevant subject, such as: • Biology • Biomedical Science • Pharmacology • Microbiology NTU may also consider applicants with relevant employment experience or other relevant qualifications.

Semester 1 — Core Cell Culture & Antibody Technology Learn laboratory techniques involving cells and antibodies and their applications in biomedical research. Biology of Disease Study diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and kidney fibrosis, including their causes and progression. Semester 1 — Choose ONE Microbial Diagnostics Learn modern methods for diagnosing infectious diseases, including PCR, sequencing and culture techniques. Medical Microbiology Study diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites and their diagnosis and treatment. Molecular Biology Study DNA, genes, mutations, sequencing, gene expression, epigenetics and gene therapy. Semester 2 — Core Research Methods & Bioethics Learn how to design research, analyse data, conduct literature reviews and deal with ethical issues in biomedical research. Haematology & Transfusion Science Study blood diseases, blood cells, transfusion science and diagnostic practices. Semester 3 Research Project — 60 credits You'll carry out an in-depth research project in a specialist biomedical/bioscience area, analyse your results and present your findings. In short: 🧫 Laboratory techniques → 🧬 Molecular biology → 🦠 Disease & microbiology → 🩸 Haematology → 🔬 Research project.
