This is quite different from the Biotechnology, Chemistry and Biomedical Science courses you asked about. The purpose of this MSc is to take someone who already has a degree in another subject and train them to become a: Registered Mental Health Nurse in the UK It combines: • Mental health nursing theory • Psychology and social sciences • Clinical nursing skills • Communication • Therapeutic relationships • Patient-centred care • Mental health assessment • Clinical placements • Leadership • Research The course uses a combination of classroom learning, simulation and real healthcare placements. Successful completion leads to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Approximately half of the programme is classroom-based and half is practice learning. NTU gives an example of: Year 1: 24 weeks classroom + 18 weeks placement + 1 week simulation Year 2: 20 weeks classroom + 24 weeks placement + 1 week simulation.
